7:00 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2015
Oakland Acres Maintenance Building
Call Meeting to Order: Mayor Smith called the council meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.
Roll Call: Barb Arthur, Joyce
Halblom and Ted Schultz were present. Absent: Roger Fisher and Doug Weaver
Also present: Lori Smith, city clerk
Inquiries from the Community: Questions on snow removal. When wreckers are not allowed on the roads, snow plows will not run. Have contacted Dodds to remind them to let us know when they cannot pickup the trash.
Approval of Minutes: Schultz moved to approve the minutes of the December 8, 2014, meeting. Halblom seconded. Ayes: All.
Treasurer’s Report: Schultz moved to approve the December report as submitted. Arthur seconded. Ayes: All.
Payment of Bills: Halblom moved to approve payment of the bills. Arthur seconded. Ayes: All.

Mayor’s Opening Address and Report: Christmas party went well. Most of funds were spent on gift cards for drawings.
Old Business
Reading of Ordinance: Ordinance was approved at the last meeting.
Projects: Will continue to add some projects in 2015, including tree trimming at the park. Perhaps coordinate with Spring Cleanup, with the rental of a chipper.
Legal Contract: Has been signed and returned.
Emerald Ash Borer: A representative will come out to the community this summer to appraise any damages.
Committees: Have the committee meet and attend our February meeting to present their recommendations. Also have the new Parks and Rec committee get together.
Siren: Make sure this is a top priority to be repaired in the spring.
New Business
FY16 Budget: The clerk presented a suggested budget for FY16 of $105,600, including $50,000 for road repairs. Halblom made a motion to accept the budget and hold a budget hearing before our meeting in February.
Mowing: Halblom will check with DNR about the possibility of seeding of the dam area, to eliminate the need to mow it. Discussion ensued and decided to keep the current arrangement of having the maintenance person mowing the public areas.
Spring Cleanup and Garage Sale days: Will hold Garage Sale Day on Saturday, May 2, with dumpsters available from April 24 - May 8. Will try to set up a community-wide clean up and beautification day on May 16.
Council Report: None.
Clerk Report: None.
Maintenance Report: Moved some snow around corners and maintenance building parking lot. Appreciate people watching for the maintenance person while working.
Adjournment: Halblom moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:56 p.m. Arthur seconded. Ayes: All.
The next regular meeting of the Oakland Acres City Council is scheduled on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Oakland Acres Maintenance Building.
